At Appalachian Gastroenterology a team approach is used which we feel best meets the needs of our patients. In addition to seeing a physician, you may also see a physician assistant during one of your visits. Physician assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physican supervision. PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treate illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, and in most states can write prescriptions. For more information about the physician assistant profession, go to www.aapa.org/geninfo1.html.
